40th Reunion Photos
Our 40th reunion was held June 16, 2007 at the Beethoven Waldheim Pavilion in Hellertown, PA. Wayne Schaeffer was the organizer and spearhead of the expedition to gather as many classmates as possible since our last reunion - the 25th? Wayne was assisted by Judy (Reichard) Goodling to get the event off the ground, and what a delightful day it was.
Approximately 65+ classmates attended, some with spouses or significant others, with the total attending at 115.
The food was catered by Casey Lynn Caterers, starting with a terrific picnic lunch, then a mid afternoon seafood buffet, followed by a full dinner at 5:30. Desserts, drinks, and snacks were available throughout the day, and we were delighted (and a little spoiled) by the delicious assortment they offered!
Everyone had a name tag - a graduation picture scanned from The Comus, along with their current hometown, and state. It has been reported the size of the type could have been a little larger for those aging eyes!.
Billy Klein, from his Back Acres Farm in the metropolis of New Tripoli, boosted the entertainment factor by providing romantic afternoon rides with his horse drawn carriage. And, as if that were not enough, Billy also donated enough Tastykakes to feed an ARMY!. In addition he also set in motion several door prize offerings, with the lucky winners enjoying six personalized shipments of their favorite Tastykake snacks! Nice -- Nice touch, Billy!
Wayne auctioned off the new boom box used for music until the LIMITS took over. The high bidder (Karen (Elliott) Eberts) took home a very classy Panasonic entertainment center! We also raffled off some beautiful hand crafted items created for us by Susan (Egge) Haftel, and Ann (Blake) McManus. And if you were there, Pete and Sherry Szekeres got you in the class picture.
Speaking of pictures, were you one of the lucky ones who bought a special memories edition of the Canary Newsletter, created especially for us by Lynn Mollick?? And you didn't miss the all-day showing of the senior class movie, created on DVD for us by Irwin Goldberg, did you??? What wonderful memories!
AND WHAT CAN WE SAY ABOUT THE LIMITS!!!
The highlight of the evening was the rockin', high energy concert given by our classmates Rick Levy, Hub Wilson, Irwin Goldberg, and Rook, Beau, and Chris JOnes!
WOW -- is an understatement for the performance of this "Garage Band" from the 60's , and after 40 years the sound took us back to those days of the Mad Hatter, The Mod Mill, and those 9-Y Jive Dances. What a nightcap for a wonderful day! THANK YOU GUYS!! You made the day!
The best part, however, was meeting old friends. Talking with one another again often for the first time in 15, 20, or even 40 years, was a delightful journey down memory lane. This was not only a reunion of classmates, but a life's reunion as well. For many of us we were the "kids on the block" -- elementary, Junior and Senior high pals and friends. We are the children of the Greatest Generation, and we played together, dated one another, attended religious schools together, and learned to enjoy and appreciate one another thru activities likes sports, music, band and scouting.
Mark your calendar for June 2012, and let's re-connect again!
